UTS Midwifery CourseThe Bachelor of Midwifery course at the University of Technology Sydney is finally underway. 29 students enrolled at the beginning of the year, including 3 indigenous women, who will eventually be providing midwifery care in their own communities. This course has been “in the wings” for many years, and the competition for places in the first intake was fierce. One of our (Birth International) former students has emailed me that she is part of this first group of students and is really loving it. One of the benefits of the long wait to get it started has been that the content and focus of the curriculum has been developed in light of the other courses that are now available in in Australia. It is very focussed around woman centred care and our ex-student described it as inspiring and refreshing”. I am sure she will thoroughly enjoy the course and it will be great to have midwives with this educational background in NSW. Those who are interested in enquiring more about this Course should contact the Centre for Midwifery at UTS by phone: (02) 9514 5021. Posted by andrea at April 06, 2005 02:42 AM |
